Southern New Hampshire Hospital’s emergency department (ED), like most regional EDs, was experiencing an increasing census of behavioral health patients. To support a positive experience for patients and family, as well as deliver a dignified care setting to meet the needs of this patient population, the hospital wanted to create a dedicated behavioral health support space in their ED.

The project transitioned existing exam rooms and office space into five behavioral health-specific rooms and a dedicated nurses’ station. Low voltage controls are utilized for added patient safety and protection. There are also patient respite areas provided as a central gathering zone. Fulcrum installed temporary partitions to enable the ED to remain fully operational during construction.
