Fulcrum Associates was selected to build Day’s first freestanding jewelry store. The 5,900 s/f store was built from the ground up; including the exterior shell and interior fit out. The building’s brick and Sto EIFS (exterior insulation and finish system) is complemented by a copper fascia above the windowed foyer that showcases the image of an enlarged Forevermark diamond. On the interior, soffits on the ceiling match the shape of the jewelry case below it. Each soffit is lit with LED lighting which is optimal for projecting the true color of diamonds, colored gemstones and precious metals. Gypsum panels with 3D geometric designs were installed on select walls for added architectural elegance and texture. The store amenities for customers include a lounge area, fireplace, coffee bar, and play space for children.
This Gate City location includes many high-tech touches that were considered in the design of the building. Holographic technology allows guests to virtually explore the many details of a diamond. Guests may also use exclusive technology to select a diamond, enlarge the image up to 1,000 times, manipulate it to see various angles, and see how it will look on their hand. The glassed in goldsmith’s area allows guests to watch their jewelry being made, repaired, or engraved with computerized systems, or a lasers.
