Superintendent

This position reports to the Director of Operations

Job Summary:

Provides overall field leadership on a single project. Leads a team of subcontractors in the field ensuring that we meet Fulcrum standards of Quality, Safety and Schedule. Acts with urgency and accountability as it relates to the project schedules.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with field staff (Fulcrum and Subcontractors) daily to ensure that project schedules are met.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with owner, design team, subcontractors, and local building officials.
  • Oversee all aspects of daily onsite activities.
  • Oversee subcontractors, suppliers, temp labor, and employees.
  • Mentor carpenters and laborers.
  • Helps drive culture through the organization.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Study and interpret construction documents to determine needs and plan of action.
  • Prepare and/or assist in the generation of baseline schedules and weekly updates.
  • Review all incoming materials to the site. Ensure all materials meet project specifications and approved submittals.
  • Knowledge of IBC codes for NH and MA.
  • Communicate with PM any deviations from plans, specifications and/or subcontracts on site.
  • Coordinate inspections with local building officials and any 3rd party project required inspections.
  • Inspect work to ensure that quality standards are met.
  • Create daily field reports including manpower, visitors, daily activity, and weather.
  • Track field expenditures and communicate with Project Manager and Accounting.
  • Attend weekly meetings with subcontractors and client team.
  • Ensure quality control and inspect site daily for safety compliance.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Must possess thorough knowledge of construction methods, scheduling, and blueprint reading.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, MS Project, Procore, Excel, or related software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field, or 7 years’ experience in a supervisory role.
  • OSHA 30 Certification.
  • CPR/First Aid Certified.
  • Massachusetts Superintendents license helpful but not necessary.
