Assistant Project Manager

This position reports to the Senior Project Manager or Project Manager.

Job Summary:

The Assistant Project Manager will provide technical support to ensure construction work is performed on schedule and in accordance with company policy and industry best practices. Provide assistance to the Superintendents, Project Managers, and the rest of the Project Team to facilitate the successful execution of the project.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manage and mentor co-op students/interns as necessary.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Review and interpret project documents, plans, and specifications.
  • Assists with estimating, bidding, and buyout at the beginning of projects.
  • Assist with project financials and the creation of purchase orders and subcontract agreements.
  • Generate verbal and written communications required to meet internal and project administrative requirements.
  • Maintain document control including but not limited to submittals, RFIs, change orders, and meeting minutes in Procore.
  • Manage project deliverables with contracted vendors and subcontractors.
  • Work closely with the AE/Owner to define project goals, objectives, and priorities. Develop performance driven relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
  • Resolve design conflicts with AE/Owner.
  • Maintains all closeout documentation required per project specifications.
  • Assist with punchlist responsibilities at the time of project closeout.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Must possess thorough knowledge of construction methods, scheduling and plan reading.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability is essential.
  • Must have sound computer skills including experience with MS Project, Excel, and Procore.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.

Education and Experience:

  • College degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated Project Management experience.
