Amherst, NH – (September 20, 2018) – Fulcrum Associates, a leading construction management firm in southern New Hampshire, has been selected by Portsmouth Regional Hospital as construction manager for the organization’s newest freestanding emergency room in Dover. An official groundbreaking ceremony for the brand new, 10,000-square-foot building was held on Thursday, September 13. Construction is scheduled to be complete by mid-March of 2019.

The Dover Emergency Room, located at 10 Central Avenue, will provide 11 treatment rooms including trauma care, behavioral health, pediatric care, full diagnostic testing, and laboratory and imaging services. Once open to the public, the emergency room will be staffed 24 hours per day, year-round, by board-certified emergency room physicians.

“Fulcrum prides itself on constructing high-quality facilities that enhance the lives of individuals and businesses in the community it serves, and we’re honored to be an integral part of Portsmouth Regional Hospital’s team for this project,” said Jeff Luter, President of Fulcrum. “This new emergency room will provide residents of Dover and surrounding communities with the organization’s high-quality care and critical patient access right in their own backyard.”

Dover is one of the fastest growing residential communities in New Hampshire. With more than 30,000 employees in the area each day, the freestanding emergency room will support the residential and workforce population in the immediate and surrounding areas. The new facility is expected to create 40 new jobs.

“Fulcrum has hit the ground running and we feel the right team is in place to deliver a facility that will foster a coordinated, patient-focused care experience for this community,” said Dean Carucci, CEO of Portsmouth Regional Hospital. “We have a long tradition of providing high-quality care for the Seacoast community, and it is apparent Fulcrum shares our values and commitment to the people we serve.”

The project team includes Fulcrum Associates (Construction Manager), Sevalus (HCA/Portsmouth Regional Hospital’s Construction Management Firm), Hereford Dooley Architects (Architect), Structural Design Group (Structural Engineer), I.C. Thompson Associates, Inc. (MEP Engineer), and Inner Design Studio (Interior Designer).
