Project consisted of adding 14 new exam and provider offices
Amherst, NH – (October 25, 2018) – Fulcrum Associates, a leading construction management firm in southern New Hampshire, recently completed the construction of a 2,160-square-foot addition, consisting of 14 exam rooms and provider offices, to Southern New Hampshire Health System’s (SNHHS) Merrimack Medical Center. The expansion supports the improvement of patients’ health through expanded capacity to provide innovative programs and preventive health resources. The Merrimack Medical Center provides family medicine, physical therapy, dermatology, immediate care, pediatrics, sports medicine, lab and radiology services.
The project, which was designed by Stone River Architects, was completed in four months, during which the existing facility remained fully operational – a priority for SNHHS.
“Southern New Hampshire Health System is committed to improving, maintaining and preserving the overall health and well-being of individuals in the greater Nashua area through our wealth of resources, including the physical spaces we treat our patients in,” said Scott Cote, Vice President of Facilities and Emergency Management for Southern New Hampshire Health. “We have worked with Fulcrum for the past 10 years on countless projects at our various locations in the region, and their team continues to understand our values and vision by delivering high-quality spaces that are safe and welcoming for our patients and staff.”
The 2,160-square-foot addition located on the northern end of the existing structure was constructed with exterior wood framing, interior metal stud framing and attic wood trusses. The addition was made weathertight using a revolutionary ZIP System, which integrates moisture and air protection in one streamlined process.
In addition to creating more space, a new plumbing system was integrated into the medical center’s existing sewer system, and a number of mechanical systems were installed to run independently, including a state-of-the-art heating and cooling unit with exterior condenser. A new 200-amp panel was installed, allowing increased electrical capacity within the facility. Minor interior renovations throughout the facility, such as drywall patching and paint, were also completed.
“Southern New Hampshire Health delivers high-quality care to the community, and has a great deal of respect for their patients and staff,” said Jeff Luter, president of Fulcrum. “As a fellow southern New Hampshire business that shares the same respect for this community, we’re proud to have a role in expanding the medical center’s capacity to deliver the level of care Merrimack and the surrounding areas deserve.”
